Cushion Motif

Friday was a lovely sunny day spent in the print rooms printing motifs for cushion designs. I'm not actually making the cushion up as I'm doing Surface Design, so I'm focussing entirely on the what is on the surface and the textural qualities.
This design will be heavily embroidered so I've spent what seems like my life savings on beads, jewels, threads and sequins this week. It'll be worth it!
I'm very excited about this design and will update you all with the progress!

My second wallpaper motif!

Hello everybody! First off I must apologise for being a little on the quiet side lately. I've been been working on some new designs and I'm chuffed with the outcome!
Here is a photo of my koda trace for my next wallpaper motif. I'm hoping to get back into the print room tomorrow and try this on a few painted A1 backgrounds in some different colour ways before I print the real thing on Tuesday.
Seeing as my other work for my Twisted Natural concept is really small detail, I wanted to create something more block coloured. I don't usually like block colour but I am really happy with how this design has turned out.
Looking forward to showing you a sneak peak of my colour ways tomorrow!

Organised Chaos

Hi guys! I may be a little quiet for a while so apologies in advance, the perks of everyday life have unfortunately taken over. I'll try my best to keep you updated as much as I can, but for now here's a picture of my (very organised) chaos! I'm onto creating my furnishing length now so I've put the wallpaper designing on hold for a short time. I love to see designers studios and work bays so I thought I would give you a taste of where I work during the week and where the craziness happens, I hope you like!

The printing is finished.. For now!

The printing is finished! Took a full day and a half day in the print rooms. I've used all pigment and foils and used screen printing and hand painted back into it! There are certain parts I'm not happy with but hopefully when I stitch into it my mind will be changed!

The start of wallpaper testing!

Started sampling wallpaper layouts on lining paper today ready for when I print the real thing! (Practice makes perfect) this isn't a great picture as the full length wouldn't fit in my work bay, not sure whether I'm keen on this layout and whether it works as a whole but there's always tomorrow to try out some more!

A sneak peak

A sneaky peek at what might be on my second screen, can you guess what it is? Really excited about this screen, I've used this one for some of my really detailed drawings instead of just marks from the drawings blown up like my first. I'll hopefully get a good selection of prints done tomorrow!

What happens in the dye lab..

Dyed a selection of different fabrics today including plain cotton, cotton sateen and cotton voile today. All ready to use my second of many screens to come tomorrow! I'm going for paler coloured fabric so I can use really vivid contrasting colours to print with. Can't wait to get the printing out of the way to start on some lovely embroidery. Embroidery is so relaxing after a couple of long hard working weeks preparing everything to embroider in the print rooms!
